The standard (S) system is a standard product which comes with a generic and basic product documentation. The system is suitable for non-GMP environments, and it is designed for flexible functionality and usability, facilitating everyday operations. It is easy to upgrade with additional modules.

The Regulatory (R) system is designed for fast-commissioning and continuous use in GMP environments. It is configured and mounted at point of order and calibrated and tested before delivery. It comes with an extensive, configuration specific documentation for GMP environments.

S systems are delivered in a base configuration, and additional modules need to be ordered separately and installed on-site. The installation can be done either by a Cytiva service representative or yourself.

ÄKTA pilot 600 has a larger cylinder diameter to achieve a larger stroke volume that helps to obtain a higher flow rate. The seal is also located at the front of the piston, whereas in the lower flow rate pumps the seal is located at the end of the cylinder. Inlets and outlets have larger inner diameters and SNAP connectors, which gives a pump that is self-purging.

It is a different cell than the one used in ÄKTA avant and pure. It has a wider inner diameter to cope with higher flow rates. The UV can also be turned off compared to ÄKTA crossflow UV.

For normal use there should be no risk of leakage. The connection has been tested by attaching and detaching for 5000 cycles, including cutting off a short piece of tubing every 500 times, and there were no signs of leakage.

In general, a mixer is recommended for flow rates lower than 100 mL/min. The mixer can be by-passed by a valve instruction.

A - With every system you will receive:

• 30 m of outlet tubing and 15 m of inlet tubing.
• 15 SNAP connectors for fitting inlet tubing and 20 for outlet tubing, waste tubing and column tubing.
• Three TC25 to SNAP 3.2 mm connectors, three threaded 5/16 male union to SNAP 3.2 mm and four TC25 to SNAP 4.8 mm (inlet size).
• There should be enough tubing to cut and attach inlets, outlets and one column with 25 connectors or female 5/16 threaded. The tubings that are included in the order are enough to connect to extra accessories such as pH, mixer or filter.

You will get 30m of additional tubings for outlets, waste and column connection. If you have long distances and need to add many outlets, it is a good idea to buy some extra tubing.

For all inlets you will get 15m tubing with the system. So, it depends on the distance to the buffer and sample containers and on the number of inlets added, if additional tubing is required.
