Diagnostic services: knowledge sharing (part 3)

By Cytiva

Custom diagnostic services can accelerate development of your diagnostic assays. But custom services are more than just about developing bespoke products to meet your specific requirements . In part three of our blog series, learn how to take advantage of our knowledge sharing services.

When you engage with Cytiva Diagnostic Services, you probably think that you’re going to walk away with a “thing.” Perhaps you asked us to create custom conjugated magnetic beads or specially made, 96-well plates. Or maybe you needed us to lyophilize your reagents for ease of use. However, our custom services also include something less tangible but just as valuable: knowledge.

Sometimes you need access to knowledge on-demand, avoiding the time and cost of recruiting in-house expertise. The Diagnostic Services team includes experienced scientists and researchers who are well-versed in all the big and small details of diagnostic assay development. And they are ready to help you.

Classroom-based training

If you have a skills gap in your team, have recently recruited new team members or are looking to embark on new projects, classroom-based training could be a good fit for you. Our knowledge and experience of lateral flow assay development and magnetic bead based assays is extensive and our team will work with you to develop a course agenda that addresses the training topics of your choice at the level you need. We can cover everything from the very basics of diagnostic assays to advanced topics in optimization, manufacturing, and beyond. We can support your staff during startup activities and train them on processes, equipment, and site safety.

During the training, you’ll be taught by the people on our team who are most knowledgeable in the topics addressed. With direct access to these specialists, the training will be more like a seminar than a lecture. You’ll be able to ask questions and learn through discussions.

Classroom-based training can be conducted onsite at your location or at our lab in Dassel, Germany.

Development workshops

If you need help with one or two specific areas of assay development that are creating obstacles preventing you from commercializing, consider scheduling a workshop with us. Workshops are an extension of our classroom-based trainings. And like classroom-based trainings, the agenda of a workshop is determined by your needs. In a workshop, a few members of your team will work directly with one of our specialists to troubleshoot a specific challenge that you have with your diagnostic assay.

Our specialist will work collaboratively with you to study the challenge, test and optimize solutions, and make a plan for your next steps. By the end of the workshop, your assay development will be significantly advanced. Workshops generally last several days, and even after it is over, you’ll still be able to contact our team with questions.

Workshops are hands-on and are generally held in our lab in Dassel, Germany where you’ll have access to our specialized infrastructure.

Hear from Klaus Hochleitner how we make making lateral flow tests fun in our development workshops.

Virtual training

If you’re unable to travel or do not need a hands-on workshop, you can receive virtual training. Video conferencing tools can make virtual training almost like being in the room where it happens. It will be similar to classroom training with the agenda designed around your needs. But even if you’re looking at a screen, you’re still welcome and encouraged to ask questions and interact with our specialist. Education is always better as a two-way conversation!

Dx Challenges

One of the more innovative ways our Diagnostic Services team shares knowledge is through Dx Challenges. These are competitions open to people in academia or industry who are working on the development of a new diagnostic assay. The winner of each challenge participates in a 5-day workshop in Dassel, Germany and two second place winners each receive a 1-day virtual coaching session.

Hear about the experiences of Ubique Bio and Hutano Diagnostics who have both benefited from workshops with us as winners of the Dx Challenge.

Your ideas + our knowledge = your success

The purpose of our knowledge sharing services is to help you turn your ideas into successful diagnostic assays and reach the commercialization stage faster. As such, your ideas stay your ideas. All your intellectual property remains with you. We’ll share our knowledge with you, but we won’t share knowledge with other parties.

Contact us and we’ll design a custom education solution for you.
