Marivi Mendizabal not only embraces change, she insists on it. She passionately drives continuous improvement and innovation while ensuring that basic quality measures are met.
As leader of the global team of Quality and Regulatory experts at Cytiva, it comes down to her team to secure that every last detail in the business processes enable high-performance and results. Marivi excels at working cross functionally and believes it is the secret to quality.
From 1995 to 2016 Marivi held various leadership positions within R&D and Technology covering Research, Product and Portfolio management. While within R&D, Marivi led the Global Imaging R&D teams, Medical and Regulatory affairs functions for Core Imaging in Life Sciences, driving the clinical and regulatory strategies for diagnostic products.
She pursued her vision to deliver better diagnostics for neurodegeneration, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. During her leadership, Marivi transformed the portfolio and established an open innovation model delivering the next generation diagnostics via partnership models with academia and therapeutic companies.
In 2015, Marivi was selected as one of the top 50 female movers and shakers in the UK Bio-Business and in 2011 Marivi was honoured to receive the Thomas Edison Award for Innovative Research.
Marivi received a first Degree in Pharmacy (1987) followed by an MSc and PhD in Physiology (1990) from the University of Navarra (Spain). After a postdoctoral position in King’s College London, Dr Mendizabal joined GlaxoSmithKline Beecham (1992-1995) where she worked in the field of anti-infective drug discovery in a range of disciplines.
