Overview
Whatman™ Polycap TF capsule filters are made with durable, hydrophobic polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membranes in a polyproplyene housing for use with organic solvents and chemically aggressive solutions.
- PTFE filter membrane is resistant to most solvents
- Available in 0.1, 0.2, 0.45, and 1.0 µm pore sizes
- 1.0 µm pore size capsules used for extended life and filtration of highly contaminated solutions
- Manufactured according to ISO9001:2008 QMS standards
- Autoclavable capsule filtration device if sterility is required (not recommended for 0.1 μm PTFE capsules)
Whatman™ Polycap filter for aggressive solvents
Filtration of organic solvents and aggressive solutions requires a durable membrane for filtration without sample contamination.
Autoclavable Polycap TF capsule filters feature PTFE membranes with high chemical resistance. Common applications include venting, in-line filtration to sterilize* and remove particles from air/gas/liquid streams, filtration to ensure clean inert gases in vial filling lines, and isolation of exhaust from fermenters.
Polycap TF filters support use in the electronics, pharmaceutical, and biopharmaceutical industries, because they are photoresistant and can be used to vent and perform in-line filtration for production systems in biological environments.
*Refers to sterilization by filtration for small sample use which is an industry term for filters of pore size 0.2 um or smaller as referenced in guidance such as EPA Guidance for Industry Sterile Drug Products Produced by Aseptic Processing — Current Good Manufacturing Practice Section IX, Part B (September 2004).
