Compact shipper, compatible with most cryo-containers

The VIA Capsule™ system is comprised of the shipper with integrated smart monitor and the cryocooler. Combined with the Chronicle software platform, it forms a complete solution for smart, liquid nitrogen-free cryogenic shipping.

Using only electricity, the cryocooler cools the shipper unit to cryogenic temperatures prior to transportation. When the cryopreserved cellular product is ready, the cryocooler is removed, and the cell containers (cryobags or cryovials) are securely loaded. The shipper unit is then sealed with a low-profile transport cap, boxed, and ready for transit.

Simplified, liquid nitrogen-free cryogenic logistics

Liquid nitrogen-free technology eliminates the complexity, hazards, and costs inherent in liquid nitrogen shipments. Simplified preparation and shipping processes reduce risks and deliver efficiencies for the cell therapy manufacturer, courier, and hospital. There is no need for the complicated multi-leg shipment often required with conventional dry shipper logistics. The associated carbon footprint is eliminated.

Visible, continually validated shipping

The VIA Capsule™ solution provides predictable performance with continually validated and fully traceable shipping. The shipper’s smart monitor uploads accurate temperature, condition, and GPS information to the Chronicle software platform. Available in real time and retained within Chronicle, the data is automatically united with other shipment records and the sample’s electronic batch record.

Real -time data for risk mitigation decisions

Predictable warming of the cryogenically cooled thermal core provides accurate stand-by time, displayed on VIA Capsule shipper’s LCD display and in Chronicle. During transit, the exact stand-by time is visible in real-time. If a disruption occurs, an algorithm within Chronicle automatically accounts for the impact and recalculates the exact remaining stand-by time.

Manage unexpected delays

Strategically positioned VIA Capsule™ Charge Stations within World Courier’s global and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certified network allows users to manage unexpected events by allowing intervention when needed. These cryocooler ready hubs have trained staff and GDP processes in place to maintain diverted shippers on-charge until the shipment can continue. In this way the cryogenic temperature is maintained even when a delay occurs, when shipping with World Courier.

Logistics autonomy and patient focus

Cryogenic hold time is extended when the shipper unit is docked with the cryocooler unit. So, the shipper sits ‘on-charge’ until the sample is ready to be transported. This facilitates flexible scheduling of manufacturing workflows, logistics, and patients. At the hospital, the VIA Capsule™ system can be used for temporary cryogenic storage.
