Permeate Volume and Process Time Calculator
Please fill in the process values below, if no concentration or diafiltration are needed, do not change default values. Please give the flux (L/m2/h), filter area (m2), starting volume (L) and concentration factor to get the volume and process time for the concentration step.
In some cases it could be useful to perform a second concentration step, please give the concentration factor for the second concentration step to get the volume and process time. This depends on the need for diafiltration optimization.
If you have the flux and filter area in other units please use the Flux and Area converters.
Input values
The permeate volumetric flow rate is calculated from the formula: Volumetric flow rate (L/h) = Flux (L/m2/h) * Filter area (m2)
The volume for the first concentration step is calculated by using the formula: Volume (L) = Starting volume (L)-(Starting volume (L)/Concentration factor))
The volume for the diafiltration step is calculated by using the formula: Volume (L) = Starting volume (L)/Concentration factor * Number of buffer exchange
The volume for the second concentration step is calculated by using the formula: Volume(L) = (Starting volume (L)-Volume from the first concentration step (L))-((Starting volume (L)-Volume from the first concentration step (L))/Concentration factor for the second concentration step))
The process time for the concentration step is calculated by using the formula: Process time (h) = Volume (L)/Volumetric flow rate (L/h)
Total permeate volume (L) = Σ Volumes received during concentration and diafiltration
Total process time (h) = Σ Process time for concentration and diafiltration
