Laboratory vent filters
Learn more about devices suitable for venting bioreactors, fermentation tanks, and carboys
Choosing the correct vent device with hydrophobic media can prevent the entry of water and aerosols into sensitive cell and tissue culture vessels helping maintain environmental sterility. When selecting a vent filtration device, it is critical to consider not only filter type but also device size and typical air flow.
Particulate and microbial contamination may cause damage to sensitive instrumentation. Vent devices can be used in-line for removing particulates from air or gas for delivery to instruments. They are also suited for the bio-isolation of vacuum sources, providing air/gas for flushing instruments and cleaning parts.
Vent devices can be used as a part of a vacuum system’s standard operating procedure. Using a vent device containing hydrophobic media between a vacuum source and a receiving vessel can protect vacuum pumps and in-house vacuum lines from liquid intrusion and damage to valves and pump components by aqueous fluids.
