An antibacterial and antimycobacterial reagent.
- Broad spectrum cell culture antibiotic that is nontoxic to viruses and mammalian cells at antibacterial levels
- Active against gram positive and gram negative bacteria and mycoplasma; useful for long-term virus and tissue culture studies
- Interferes with bacterial protein synthesis by binding to L6 protein of 50S ribosomal subunit
- Common working concentration is 5 μg/mL
