Overview
The Whatman™ GD/XP non-sterile nylon membrane syringe filters are designed to prepare and enhance the inorganic ion analysis of hard-to-filter samples greater than 10 mL. Each unit contains a prefiltration stack of polypropylene prefilters and nylon membrane.
- Incorporates a two-layer polypropylene prefilter stack rather than a multi-layer glass fiber stack to minimize levels of ion extractables
- Extremely low protein binding syringe filter
- High loading volume for filtration of challenging samples
Disposable syringe filter for trace metal analysis
Because of their high purity and minimal ion extractables, GD/XP syringe filters are recommended for analyzing ion content that would otherwise experience interference from glass-based extractables. For example, GD/XP is used for trace metal analysis, particularly ion analysis using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).
Nylon membrane considerations
Nylon membrane is hydrophilic and is a good choice for aqueous and/ or aqueous organic samples. The membrane offers good chemical resistance to most common HPLC solvents, however it has limited resistance to acids, bases, halogenated hydrocarbons, aldehydes and strong oxidizing agents. The most common application is HPLC sample filtration.
ISCC+ certified Biobased polypropylene housing (25mm devices):
- 90% Biobased plastic resin.
- Biobased plastic resin is ISCC Plus certified using Mass Balance approach.
- The polypropylene accounts for 95% of the weight/composition of the syringe filters.
