Overview
The Whatman™ GD/XP non-sterile polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane syringe filters are designed to prepare and enhance the inorganic ion analysis of hard-to-filter samples greater than 10 mL. Each unit contains a prefiltration stack of polypropylene prefilters and PTFE membrane.
- Increase flow rates and reduce blockage as a result of the two layer prefilter stack
- Eliminate sample contamination
- Requires less hand pressure, even for samples with a high level of particulates
- Process three to seven times more sample volume
- Reduce costly exchanges with extended filter life
Applications
- HPLC sample preparation
- Trace metal analysis
- Sample preparation prior to dissolved heavy metal
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) Membrane considerations
Polytetrafluoroethylene membrane is hydrophobic and will not allow water to pass without high pressures. Aqueous solutions may be filtered if the membrane is initially “wetted” with alcohol or another appropriate solvent. Polytetrafluoroethylene membrane will stop aqueous aerosols in gas streams.
ISCC+ certified Biobased polypropylene housing (25mm devices):
- 100% Biobased plastic resin.
- Biobased plastic resin is ISCC Plus certified using Mass Balance approach.
- The polypropylene accounts for 95% of the weight/composition of the syringe filters.
